The month was formally opened at the Ministry of Tourism’s press conference on Thursday, October 1. This year’s observance is held under the theme “Our People, Our Communities, Our Future: Reimagining Tourism Together. ” It affirms a simple principle: tourism in St. Kitts is strongest when the people who live here understand it, shape it and share in its rewards. The programme moves deliberately beyond the hotel and the cruise pier.
Over four weeks it will reach classrooms, congregations, villages and the industry’s own workforce, inviting citizens of every age to see their place in the Federation’s leading economic sector. “The people of St. Kitts are our tourism,” said the Minister of Tourism, Hon. Henderson. “Visitors come for the beaches and the mountain, and they go home talking about the taxi driver who gave them a history lesson on the island main road, and the vendor who made sure they tasted her johnny cakes before they left.
