RVIPF helped seize 4.8 tonnes of cocaine

Acting Interim Commissioner of Police Richard Ullger The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force helped international law-enforcement partners seize more than 4. 8 tonnes of cocaine during a major operation involving South American countries, Acting Interim Commissioner of Police Richard Ullger has disclosed. Ullger did not identify the countries involved, state where the drugs were found or provide a date for the operation. He said he could not disclose further details. “We were part of a very big operation. I can’t go into too much detail , but it involved South American countries where over 4. 8 tonnes of cocaine was seized,” Ullger said during an appearance on the Talking Points radio programme. “And, you know, little Royal Virgin Islands Police Force, the Virgin Islands was part of that operation,” he added.

Ullger made the disclosure while discussing drug trafficking, border security and the police force’s collaboration with local and international agencies. He confirmed that boats carrying drugs continue to pass through the region and described the Virgin Islands as a transhipment point for narcotics destined for the United States. “Of course, we’ve got boats coming in, whether we like it or not,” Ullger stated. “They stop over in different islands, dropping off their merchandise to get it eventually to the mainland USA.
