New Acting Prison Boss

Jermaine Anthony has reportedly been appointed acting superintendent of His Majesty’s Prison (HMP), as Colonel Trevor Pennyfeather proceeds on pre-retirement leave ahead of the end of his contract. Pennyfeather confirmed his contract ends on October 7 and that he has already proceeded on pre-retirement leave until then. He said his retirement and Anthony’s appointment are not linked. Anthony’s appointment is understood to be temporary.

Pennyfeather was appointed superintendent of His Majesty’s Prison in February 2023, brought over from the Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force (ABDF) after more than 35 years as a career army officer. Before taking up the position as head of the prison, Pennyfeather outlined a vision to reorganise and restructure the penal facility, telling staff it would become an example for the region, with a focus on rehabilitation.
