NDP crumbling? Coy Levons walks away

(FB Photo) The National Democratic Party (NDP) has been dealt another blow, with high-ranking member Coy Levons walking away from the party as doubts continue to swirl about the group’s readiness for the next general election. Levons – who serves as Director of Civil Aviation at the BVI Airports Authority – contested the Ninth District seat for the NDP in 2023 and lost to incumbent Vincent Wheatley by just 78 votes. He had been expected to contest that district again under the NDP banner. However, our news centre has obtained a letter that Levons sent, confirming his exit from the party.

“After carefully considering my current financial position, family responsibilities and personal circumstances, I have decided to step away from the NDP at this time,” Levons wrote. He described the decision as difficult and thanked the party for its support, but said he now needs to give greater attention to his personal and family responsibilities. His exit adds to a growing list of challenges facing chairman Marlon Penn since he emerged victorious from the party’s contentious internal leadership contest earlier this year.
