FG launches online discount shop for troops, veterans in Abuja

By Omeiza Ajayi The Federal Government has launched the Armed Forces of Nigeria Personnel Online Discount Shop, a welfare initiative designed to provide serving personnel, veterans and their families with convenient access to essential goods at discounted prices. Head, Press and Public Relations Department, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation OSGF, Chris Ugwuegbulam, in a statement on Thursday, said the platform was launched in Abuja by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume, who commended the Chief of Defence Staff, General O. O. Oluyede, the Defence Headquarters and all stakeholders who conceived and delivered the initiative.

In his address at the launch, Akume said the welfare of those who serve the nation extends beyond operational capabilities, noting that a motivated and resilient Armed Forces is sustained by the assurance that the wellbeing of its personnel and families remains a priority. He described the initiative as a welcome contribution to the Federal Government’s comprehensive welfare framework, which seeks to ease financial pressures, improve access to essential goods and services, and enhance the quality of life of personnel. The SGF also highlighted the innovative nature of the project, which leverages digital technology through the Konga platform in partnership with Zinox Group, saying the platform demonstrates how technology and strategic partnerships can be harnessed to deliver practical benefits to citizens who have dedicated themselves to the service and security of the nation.
