‘Jabbar’ drones highlight Egypt’s domestic arms production at aviation exhibition

Egyptian defence companies have showcased the “Jabbar” series of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) at the second El Alamein International Airshow, highlighting the country’s push to expand its domestic military manufacturing capabilities. Prior to the exhibition, Egyptian firm Tornex introduced the “Jabbar 50” drone. This follows the display of the “Jabbar 150,” “Jabbar 200,” and “Jabbar 250” UAVs, which feature varying ranges and were exhibited by the Egyptian company Amiston. The 2026 airshow, which opened on Tuesday and runs until Thursday, was inaugurated by President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi. The event features more than 260 exhibitors and over 100 official delegations representing approximately 80 countries. Alongside the Jabbar series, the state-owned Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI) is displaying several locally produced systems.
These include the “FL750” suicide drone designed for reconnaissance and targeting, the “R&D” interceptor drone, and the “Hamza-1” and “Hamza-2” UAVs. The AOI stated its participation aims to meet the needs of the Egyptian Air Force and allied nations by localising advanced technologies across its affiliated factories. Military and strategic expert Ayman Abdel Mohsen stated that the Egyptian armament systems on display also include the locally manufactured “ASN-209” tactical reconnaissance drone. The exhibition features advanced aerial munitions, including the “Hafez” bomb family (Hafez 1, 2, and 3) to improve strike accuracy, and the “Nayzak” series designed for arming drones. The latter includes “Nayzak 1,” an anti-personnel projectile, and “Nayzak 2,” a thermobaric weapon.
