BoN honours Frank Fredericks with silver coin
What the source reports
The Bank of Namibia has handed over a commemorative N$10 silver coin honouring Namibian sprint legend Frank Fredericks to the Namibia National Olympic Committee (NNOC). The coin, minted in 1996, celebrates Fredericks’ achievements at the Atlanta Olympic Games that year. NNOC chief executive Anri Parker received the coin on behalf of the committee.
The coin features a cheetah, representing the speed, strength and determination that marked Fredericks’ athletics career. It also carries Namibia’s coat of arms. The silver coin is a collector’s item and is not intended for everyday transactions. The handover honours Fredericks’ contribution to Namibian sport and recognises his Olympic achievements as an inspiration to future athletes. 42 John Meinert Street, Windhoek,Namibia, +264 61 279 600 The Namibian © All rights reserved.
