Four Edmonton restaurants are being linked to 40 cases of COVID-19, Alberta chief medical officer of health, Dr. Deena Hinshaw said Tuesday afternoon at an update.

So far, 15 cases have been tied to Greta Bar YEG, six to Earls Tin Palace, 10 to the Pint Downtown on 109 Street and nine to Local on Jasper Avenue. All three locations announced on social media earlier in Junetemporary closures, which were voluntary.

Hinshaw said anyone who went to one of these locations in the past two weeks should get tested.

“I want to reiterate that these restaurants and those who have tested are doing the right thing by taking steps to contain this outbreak,” she said.

“As I have said before, it is critical that we do not shame those who test positive but rather support them to isolate and work with public health officials to do contact tracing and follow up as these restaurants have done.”

A statement released by Greta Bar late Tuesday said the establishment has been closed since June 14, when it was apparent that they had a “potentially infected guest.”
